Papers relating to the family of Ira Miltimore, a prominent pioneer settler of Chicago (1836-1845) and Janesville, Wis. (1846- ). Included is correspondence between Miltimore and his future wife, Margaret B. King, 1838-1839; a few Civil War letters from Miltimore while serving as captain of Co. E, 33rd Wisconsin Infantry Regiment, and from his son Claron, a private in Co. E, 22nd Wisconsin Infantry Regiment (1862-64) and adjutant in the 37th Infantry (1864-65); account books kept by Margaret, 1881-89, 1897-99, covering years spent by some family members in South Dakota; clippings; photographs; and biographical and genealogical notes gathered by a descendent, Mrs. Hazel Elmslie.
